Today we went to Odanadi, a home for sex trafficking victims, and spoke to Mr. Stanley one of the directors. He informed us on the social stigma towards women who are apart of sex trafficking and how many people ask him why he is helping, why is he helping these women? I find this shocking that people question why someone is helping a woman, especially one who has been through something as traumatizing as human trafficking. Mr. Stanley also told us crazy stories where people have gone undercover as cooks and worked for sex trafficking gangs for several months to gather information. The lengths they have gone to save these women is inspiring. Mr. Stanley explained that while the women are in Odanadi he tries to show them that there is good in world, they get taught how to take care of themselves and do different activities such as painting, yoga, and dancing. Originally when traveling to Odanadi I thought it would be a very sad experience, to see these women who have been through so much, but while visiting I found it to be very uplifting and again inspiring seeing how these women’s lives are changing and the many opportunities they are given. I am so grateful we got to go. Today was also cooking class number two, we focused on food from northern India. I discovered that in order to make nan you have to add milk and yogurt, which I was not expecting. Overall it was a great day.
