INDIA DAY 10

Today was an action-packed day. We were up bright and early having to be downstairs by 6:00 am for a three-hour drive. Our plan was to go see and play with elephants, sadly when we got to the area with the elephants, we found out it was closed for the day. We did though, get to go on this crazy jeep ride, which seemed like it was straight out of Animal Kingdom. After the unfortunate situation with the elephants, we made our way to the Golden Temple, which is actually a series of Buddhist temples. They were beautiful, the outsides were filled with golds, blues, and reds and the inside had gorgeous paintings filling every inch from wall to ceiling. We also visited a Hindu temple that was previously under water. The government was draining the lake to build a dam and discovered the temple, they moved it higher up so it would no longer get flooded. It was in amazing condition, covered in smooth stone and filled with different statues of the Hindu gods. Rashmi, one of the women from PHRI helped us, by explaining what each statue meant. After a long day, I am absolutely exhausted, but I did not forget to wish my wonderful mother a happy mother’s day.

Best,

Caileigh
