Today we visited JSS, the local specialist hospital in Mysore. We were given a tour and got to see the different areas of the hospital, including the pediatric ward. It was interesting seeing the differences and similarities on the way the hospital runs compared to hospitals in America. Later that afternoon a few women at PHRII took our whole group out sari shopping. I never realized the different varieties of color, fabric, design, and pricing, it was a little overwhelming. Another thing I never realized, is when you purchase a sari it is just a nine-foot piece of fabric, which you then wrap and stitch to get the complete look. You also have to buy pants or a petticoat to go underneath and a top. After looking at many different designs, I decided on a beautiful white sari with coral, gold, and green floral embroidery on the seams. Sadly, we were not allowed to take picture, but at the end of the trip all the girls are going to wear our saris during the going away party, so you will get to see how it looks soon.
Best,
Caileigh
